Book your walking holiday around the Dartmoor Way, a well-signposted circular route beginning and ending in Ivybridge. Fully overhauled in 2020, this long-distance lowland trail interweaves wild walking through the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park — including moorland, wooded valleys and impressive views to bulky tors — with jaunts through the stone-built towns and tiny hamlets that nestle at the park’s edge. Over footpaths, bridleway and old drovers’ roads, the Dartmoor Way visits hilltop churches, prehistoric stones and nature reserves, with wild ponies roaming the moors.
From £670 per person
The Dartmoor Way Highlights walking holiday explores the southern edge of the Dartmoor National Park but departs the route of the full Dartmoor Way to head west into the heart of the moors between Buckfastleigh and Tavistock on the High Moorland Link Path.
Through woodland and across deep valleys, the trail climbs to follow an old railway line once used for exporting granite, with stunning views over Dartmoor’s rocky tors. The walk heads onward and upward to high, exposed moorland and gorse common clipped by Dartmoor ponies, rejoining the southward sweep of the Dartmoor Way at Tavistock to cross downs and moors on the way back to Ivybridge.

Further transfers may also be required due to some accommodations having a two-night minimum booking policy, especially at weekends.
